Helping children learn to swim effectively
Being able to swim and stay safe in the water must be top of the list of skills that parents want their children to have mastered – no question why! You only need look at the popularity of baby swimming lessons. Parents want to keep kids safe in the water, and knowing they are competent swimmers will give them that extra peace of mind. But for many it is not just a question of child safety. You want to know your kids are learning to swim properly and efficiently, and this can present more of a challenge. What about developing the correct techniques from the beginning, or even training and improving their swimming to a competitive level. Many parents buy a swimming aid in the early years and these can help with child safety and starting swimming – but are they really providing the absolute best start for your child?
Here we take a look at 6 different aspects of a good swimming aid, and how Turtle Pack measures up with other aids when it comes to these issues:
Are the arms free?
When using noodles or floats, the hands and arms are not free or in the right position for developing correct strokes. Armbands and arm discs are bulky and restrict arm movement. They lift from the arms only. Turtle Pack leaves the arms free and allows kids to learn the right technique from the very beginning.
Is the body in the correct horizontal position?
This is the natural swimming position and essential for developing good technique with the arms and legs. Turtle Pack’s positioning on the child’s back keeps the support central and allows the correct swimming position.
Does the swimming aid allow for progression?
The true magic of Turtle Pack! As a child’s confidence and coordination improves in the water, the buoyancy can be easily reduced by removing sections of the shell. This challenges the swimmer to work harder and encourages progression. The children also have visual and tactile evidence of their progress.
How comfortable is the swimming aid to wear?
Many swimming aids on the market actually pinch and nip the skin. Most parents told us that pools can be a little cold – Turtle Pack’s non-restrictive vest also offers your child warmth and comfort. It is simple and easy for children to manage putting it on and taking it off for themselves.
Is it fun?
Most importantly for our users – is the swimming aid fun and exciting?! Is it something they’ll be keen to use, without tears and tantrums?! Turtle Pack captures the imagination and makes for easy, fun play in the pool, as well as helping keep kids safe.
Ok, does it do anything else?
Turtle Pack is multi-functional so can be used in different ways besides a pure swimming aid. Segments removed as the child progresses can then be used as toys in the pool to fetch and throw. It can also be held as a kickboard. That, with its comfortable waterproof vest and super-cool design, puts it way ahead of most standard swimming aids out there.
We look forward to helping keep kids safe, be it with their families, at children’s or baby swimming lessons, or on holiday at the beach. Child safety must be paramount and Turtle Pack hopes to be key in increasing children’s confidence in the water and making great little swimmers for generations to come.
